Congratulations to our swimmers who took part in the Annual Rotary Club of Kingsbridge Swimarathon event last October. Mr Robin Rose-Price and Mrs Amanda Bloomer presented our swimmers this morning in assembly with a cheque for £645 which is 50% of what we actually raised. This is a huge achievement and we look forward to this year’s Swimarathon in October.
Willy Wonka; Where’s Wally; Mary Poppins and Tintin. A huge array of different characters were in school for our World Book Day. The children had such fun dressing up and talking about their favourite characters in class.
Four of our pupils represented Stokenham at the Mental Health Ambassadors day at Modbury. They, along with pupils from the other Federation Schools, were involved in various workshops to keep ourselves mentally healthy.
It not quite ‘find the needle in a haystack’ but more ‘hunt for the lost treasure in a shape of a tin.’ Maps and compasses at the ready, pacing out their 100 metres, knowing North from South, East from West, our children have taken to the challenge of orienteering with great resilience, teamwork and determination.
Three Days of Laughing, walking, scrambling and making friends. What more could we ask for? Raft building, stream scrambling, glorious moorland walks in the sunshine; donning harnesses and helmets, climbing walls and tors, learning the skills of archery and fencing. Our Year 5 children had a truly fabulous residential at Heatree.
You could not ask for a better combination. A little swim; a short run, scrumptious cake and the sun shining to-boot! Our Year 6 had a fantastic morning raising money towards their hoodies. Thank you to all the parents and children who sponsored them, donated cakes and of course, the money. It was a fabulous morning full of fun and laughter
Year 3 had the most fantastic time at Forest and Beach on their residential. A damp Thursday did not spoil their fun and they ended the residential in glorious sunshine. They enjoyed various outdoor activities including: pond-dipping, leaf-bashing to make flags, feeding the goats, cooking in the mud kitchen and archery. Meeting new friends from across our Federation and having their supper on the beach completed two wonderful days of fun.
Yesterday afternoon the Foundation stage had a fantastic afternoon learning how to balance on our new balance bikes! We are extremely fortunate to have a range of Balance bikes, which Key Stage 1 children are going to be able to use as part of their PE sessions.
We had a fantastic afternoon at the Tag Rugby Festival on Thursday.
The children all worked extremely hard throughout the afternoon. There was some fantastic passing and running displayed by both teams and it was wonderful to watch the children learning from their games as they progressed through the afternoon. As always, the children showed a great team spirit and were competitive while being keen to learn and enjoy the experience.
