We have planted two trees to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubileee. The trees are native, wildlife-friendly species- hazel and hawthorn. Its will be lovely to see these two trees grow over the years to come and a reminder of the Jubilee year. Some of Year 6 helped watering them after the lovely dry weather we have been having.
The Year 6 began their Forest School sessions this week and they were as busy and adventurous as expected! Popcorn was cooked on the fire, there were amazing celebration cakes created in the mud kitchen decorated with seasonal woodland blooms! Mud bricks were made and left to dry in the sun and a shop was built to sell the bricks from.
This week we gave out Blue Peter badges to pupils in Years 5 and 6 who have been involved in judging books as part of the Blue Peter Book Awards.
In preparation for a new menu after Easter, Sharon and Sharon in the kitchen are going to try some new dishes on a Wednesday. The children will have the opportunity to tell us if they would like to see each dish on a future menu, giving them the chance to help shape their lunches. Starting after half term on Wednesday 2nd March the menu will change. The new Wednesday dishes along with allergens are attached. There are also changes to Mondays and Tuesday dishes – please see the attachments.
Thank you to everyone who came along to the Road Traffic Safety meeting on Friday, 11th February. It was great to see you all and to hear your ideas and contributions. Thank you to Paul O’Dwyer who chaired the meeting and gathered the main points together to support us to move forward, reminding us that our focus is to keep our children safe on their way to and from school.
We were joined by Ash Hawkes who is our community Police officer and it was interesting to hear about the ways that other schools have worked with their communities to promote road safety. We will look forward to sharing our plans with you in the near future.
